If you’re in school, just beginning your career or looking for a career change and interested in health care, Main Line Health is a great place to start—even if you have no experience. We offer a full array of apprentice and internship programs designed to help you explore your potential. Upon completion, you may qualify to join our team.

No experience. No problem. Jumpstart your health care career here. 

If you’re detail-oriented and seek an impactful health care career, immerse yourself in this 13-week apprenticeship program, which is offered twice per year, in April and October. The application opens in January for the April cohort, and in August for the October cohort.

Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Apprenticeship Program  

This hands-on learning experience is designed for those who are passionate about establishing a healthcare career but need experience. You’ll learn directly from experienced PCTs in a supportive setting. This 8-week program is offered three times a year. The next cohort starts in January 2025.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) Apprenticeship Program  

Bring your endless motivation and energy to the table, welcome new challenges, and form warm, impactful connections with patients in this proven, empowering program, which is offered twice yearly — in January and July. The application process opens in April and October.

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Apprenticeship Program  

Are you a quick thinker who acts with confidence under pressure? Learn to save lives as an EMT. With a legacy of preparing compassionate, competent EMTs, our program stands as a testament to our commitment not just to healthcare, but to the nurturing and development of those ready to make a difference. 
Whether this is your calling or a springboard to other healthcare professions, our program can support your ambitions. It offers two cohorts a year — one in the fall; one in the spring.

Apprenticeship opportunities  

Do you have information services skills and a passion for safeguarding communities? Facilitated by our Information Services Team, this program offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact. It starts every May and concludes in mid-August, with the application opening each February.

Information Security Internship Program  

If you’re at least 16 years of age, this program empowers you to explore your interest in healthcare over your summer break. Submit your interest at any time, as we accept applications year-round. Applications usually open in the early spring each year.

High School Internship Program  

Students at least 15 years old can volunteer at Lankenau Medical Center, Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Riddle Hospital. The program runs from June to August and applications will be accepted beginning in February. Students are permitted to volunteer throughout the school year.

High School Summer Volunteer Program 

If you’re an undergraduate college student with any major and an interest in health care, we may have a summer opportunity for you. Externships can be offered during college breaks, so please inform us when submitting your interest, which we accept on a year-round basis. Any open applications will be shared on this page when they become available.

College Externship Program  

Are you a graduate student pursuing an advanced health-related degree? This 10-week, paid program connects diverse students with experienced administrators and other health care professionals who serve as preceptors and mentors. 
Offered by the American Hospital Association&#8217;s <a href="https://ifdhe.aha.org/" target="_blank">Institute for Diversity and Health Equity</a>, the Summer Enrichment Program is designed to expand health care leadership opportunities for ethnically, culturally and racially diverse individuals. Interns who have completed the Summer Enrichment Program at hospitals and health systems across the country have gone on to lead successful careers, becoming leaders and executives at health care organizations throughout the country.
To be eligible for the program, you must:

<li>Be a graduate student in MHA/MPH/MBA or a comparable health-related degree program</li>
<li>Have a 3.0 or higher GPA</li>
<li>Be a U.S. citizen</li>
</ul>

Summer Enrichment Internship Program  

Are you a college student who is interested in a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy? Consider our  student shadowing program at our Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital,  located in Malvern, PA. Assignments are issued monthly, and each opportunity is handled on an  individual basis. Project Search is an educational and work transition program for those with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Combining real-life work experience through the integration of classroom instruction and on-the-job training it is customized to the needs of each participant to help them gain and sustain employment and greater independence.
