Hiring process:
Your steps to success

We want every part of your employment experience to be positive and rewarding starting with applying. Your timeline may vary slightly depending on the role you seek and its location, but here is a general roadmap of what to expect on your candidate journey:

Step 1
Search for an opportunity on our career site

Review our current job openings and submit your application.

Step 2
Receive confirmation of receipt

You will receive an email receipt stating that your application has been properly submitted and received.

Step 3
Await credentials review

Assigned recruiters will review your credentials and if you’re qualified, send them to our hiring managers. Depending on applicant volume, this part of the process may take from several days to several weeks.

Step 4
Review your application status

We encourage you to check you email inbox regularly for updates. You may also log back into your application to see status changes.
If you have any technical issues during this process such as logging back into your application, please email mlhcareers@mlh.org to resolve your issue(s).

Step 5
Phone screen or video submission

If you are qualified, you will be contacted one of the two ways depending on the role:

  1. An email with a link for you to complete a one-way video.
  2. A recruiter will reach out to schedule a phone screen to discuss your experience and the details of the position.
Step 6
Interview virtually

Your first detailed interview will likely be virtual, making it your initial impression on the hiring manager. Even though it is virtual, you should treat it the same as an in-person onsite interview: dress the part, log in early to the virtual meeting and be ready to share why you want to join their team.

Step 7
Interview in person and/or by panel

The hiring manager may request a more detailed, in-person interview onsite so you can see where you will be working and potentially meet the team. Sometimes a panel interview will take place involving more than one interviewer. A panel interview could take place either onsite or virtually.

Step 8
Offer extension and acceptance

Congrats, you are the right fit for the position, and we want to extend you an offer! This decision was made by the hiring manager, but it will be communicated to you through the recruiter. At this time,...

Step 9
Background check

You just accepted and signed your official offer letter; we couldn’t be more excited! Reference checks and background checks will now be performed.

Step 10
Preboarding and onboarding requirements

Just like you, we are eager for your first day! To prepare for your start date, your recruiter will guide you through the preboarding stage (includes the requirements below) and seamlessly connect you with one of our...
